The ICC Cricket World Cup results can be checked on this page. The team that scores more runs during a match is declared the winner. Every result of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 matters. The matches will be played every single day starting from October 5 to November 12 when the league stage ends. After that, there will be a rest for two days. The first semi-final will be played on November 15 and the second on November 16. It will be followed by another two-day rest before the world cup final on November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Memorable Encounters in ICC World Cup
1. Australia vs South Africa, 1999
One of the greatest ever matches in cricket history. After keeping Australia to 213-all out, South Africa put themselves in a good spot and needed 1 run to win from three deliveries with a wicket remaining. A mix-up between Lance Kulsener and Allan Donald meant the former was run out and the contest ended in a tie.
2. England vs New Zealand, 2019
Again, a tie. And that too in a world cup final. Thankfully, there was Super Over. It also ended in a tie. Boundary count decided the winner.
3. England vs Ireland, 2011
Ireland, the minnows were set 328 to win by England in a world cup clash. Enter Kevin O Brian. He belted the fastest century in world cup history to guide Ireland to a three-wicket win.
4. India vs Zimbabwe 1983
India were reduced to 17/5 and then 77/6. Enter Kapil Dev and he perhaps the greatest ever knock in world cup history. The legendary allrounder belted 16 fours and six sixes to make an unbeaten 175 helping his team to a match winning total.
5. India vs West Indies, 1983
India ended West Indies dominance with a win for the ages. In the final of the world cup, India were bowled out for 183. Mohinder Amarnath and Madan Lal shared three wickets apiece as West Indies crumbled to 140-all out and India became the world champion.

History of ICC World Cup Winners
1975 - West Indies won the inaugural ODI World Cup under the captaincy of the great Clive Lloyd.
1979 - West Indies defended their title with Clive Lloyd again captaining them to world domination.
1983 - Beating all the odds, under the captaincy of Kapil Dev, India defeated West Indies to lift the trophy.
1987 - Australia, under the captaincy of Allan Border, became the third ever team to win the title.
1992 - Imran Khan came back from retirement to star and guide Pakistan to their maiden world title.
1996 - Arjuna Ranatunga was the captain as Sri Lanka became the latest team to win the ODI world cup.
1999 - Australia equaled West Indies record for winning titles. Steve Waugh was their captain.
2003 - An unbeaten Australia stormed a third title with Ricky Ponting at the helm.
2007 - Australia completed a hat-trick of world cup titles with Ricky Ponting winning his second trophy as captain.
2011 - MS Dhoni finished it in style as the India captain brought home the trophy after 28-year-await.
2015 - Michael Clarke was the captain as Australia won a record-extending fifth ODI world title.
2019 - In a nerve-shredding final, England beat New Zealand to end their wait for a first ever ODI world title.

Most runs: Sachin Tendulkar has scored most runs in world cup history. He made 2278 runs from 44 innings.
Highest score: Martin Guptill holds the record for the highest score in world cup history. He made 237 not out vs West Indies in 2015.
Most wickets: Glenn McGrath holds the record for most wickets in world cup history. He took 71 wickets from 39 matches.
Best bowling figures in a match: Glenn McGrath took 7/15 against Namibia in 2003 which is the best bowling figures by a player in the history of tournament.
Most dismissals: Kumar Sangakkara has the most dismissals of a wicketkeeper in the world cup history. He took 41 catches and effected 13 stumpings for a total of 54 dismissals.
Most catches: Ricky Ponting holds the record by a fielder (outfield). He too 28 catches from 46 innings.
Most matches: With 46 appearances, Ricky Ponting has played the most matches in ODI World Cup history.
Most matches as captain: Again, Ricky Ponting leads this list with 29 matches as captain of which he won 26.
Last Over Dramas in ICC World Cup
There cannot be a better last-over drama in ICC World Cup history than what happened between England and New Zealand in 2019. Needing 15 to win with two wickets in hand, England scored 14 and lost two wickets as well with the match ending in a tie. A Super Over followed. England made 15/0. And New Zealand scored 14 off five before Martin Guptill was run out while attempting a second run off the final delivery with the scores again ending on level terms. England, as per the playing conditions, won the title on boundary count.
