The exam was originally planned for November 26 but was moved to December 10 to prevent a clash with the CLAT PG and MP State Judicial PT exams.

The AIBE 18 exam structure requires applicants to answer 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQ) in 3 hours and 30 minutes. Furthermore, candidates must record their answers on the provided OMR form. The council administers the exam to issue qualifying applicants the Certificate of Practice (COP) for practising law in an Indian court. This year onwards, the council increased the AIBE pass percentage for general category candidates from 40 to 45 per cent. While the pass rate for applicants from the Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) has increased from 35 to 40 per cent.
