New Zealand's Jimmy Neesham was subjected to abuses hurled by Indians after Australia beat India to win the ICC World Cup 2023 trophy.

New Zealand cricketer Jimmy Neesham woke up to abuses hurled at him by disgruntled Indian fans after Rohit Sharma’s Men lost to Australia in the ICC World Cup 2023 final in Ahmedabad on Sunday. Neesham, sharing the screenshots of messages that he received on his Instagram’s DMs, quipped: “What have I missed?”

Neesham, known for his quirky tweets, responded to the atrocious and expletive messages misdirected at him simply by flicking off the abusers. Through a hilariously edited meme, the Kiwi cricketer informed them that the Australia that beat India by 6 wickets wasn’t the same country as New Zealand.

India successfully beat New Zealand by 70 runs in the semi-final hurdle to reach the final of 2023 ODI World Cup. After winning the toss, India posted a mammoth total of 397/4 in the first semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2023 against New Zealand at a full-attendance Wankhede Stadium. Mohammed Shami ended up with seven wickets and was awarded Player of the match for his stunning bowling figures of 7/57. New Zealand were eventually bundled out for 327.

Fast forward to Sunday night, India took on Australia, eyeing for a third World Cup win. Their dreams and hopes of bringing back the cup home after 12 years were convincingly shattered by Australia who outclassed them in pretty much all the departments.

Chasing India’s 241, Aussie man and opener Travis Head scored a sensational 137, helping the Pat Cummins’ side reach the target with ease and 6 wickets to spare. This was Australia’s sixth ODI World Cup win. A staggering record in its own.

Head was deservedly crowned Player of the Match for his sublime ton and subsequently entered the elite list of Australians cricketers who smashed a three-figure score in a World Cup final. Ricky Ponting was the first Australian to do so when he whacked 140* against India in 2003. Adam Gilchrist scored 149 runs off 129 balls in 2007 against Sri Lanka at Bridgetown in Barbados.
